What is Alwan Print Standardizer?

It's a centralised Q.A database taking data from printers sheets, guides operators to ISO solids, calculates and applies TVI (dot gain) corrections and produces ISO 12647 compliance reports for each and every job, simply and automatically?

Why is Dot Gain so important to track and control?

Out of spec' dot gain or incorrect for the paper type causes filling in, loss of detail/contrast, set off, neutral casts and associated issues.

Why take automated measurements?

  • Manual measurements represent a source of possible errors
  • Measuring a single, or few sheets cannot give an accurate representation of a printing process colour and dot gain reproduction
  • Many freeware and commercial software contains inaccurate dot gain and dot gain correction algorithms
  • These errors can add up resulting in inaccuracies which alone can exceed ISO TVI (dot gain) tolerances

So does mean I don't need to maintain the press?

Definitely not, process control and Print Standardizer work together to ensure 12647-2 print conditions.

Can I set-up the software incorrectly?

Print Standardizer comes with embedded ISO compliant presets and Colour Engine help install and train operators.

What sort of colour bar is needed?

From 2mm any control strip as long as it contains solids and a minimum of 2 tints per primary.

Which scanning spectrophotometers are supported?

X-Rite Intellitrax and Eazytrax, Techkon SpectroDrive and SpectroJet.

What does Alwan Dynamic Press Calibration entail?

  • Automated sorting of measurements by press and paper type
  • Analysis and filtering of measurements for an optimised database
  • Calculation of average press/paper Do Gain and Dot gain correction
  • Continuous update of dot gain correction, after each job, daily, weekly, or monthly
  • Export dot gain correction for production RIPs/CTP using supported file formats

Which RIP curve formats are supported?

  • Harlequin v7-8-9 Manual, Harlequin v9 Automated
  • KODAK Harmony, FUJI XMF, RAMPage
  • NEXUS, HP Indigo, TED XML
  • HEIDELBERG Prinect, AGFA Apogee X
  • Xeikon, SCREEN Trueflow

Are the reports 12647-2 compliant?

Print Standardizer reports are in conformance with Ugra, Fogra and ISO audit bodies.

Which information is in the reports?

Pass/Fail assessment based on ISO12647 and G7 criteria along with informational data such as grey balance.

What are the benefits of Print Standardizer?

  • No more long and costly press calibration sessions needed
  • No more long and costly make readies
  • No more unfounded client claims and complaints
  • Print to ISO 12647 for each and every job and prove it
